Independent Music Business

LHReturnables, Inc. is the First In-Store and On-line company of its' kind RENTING Music Cds. Everyday, I am more sure that this is at the very least the alternative future of Music Distribution. With Rhino Records and others going out of business, along with the possibility that downloads may increase in price, the thought that a fan can have unlimited possibilities for acquiring music by only paying a small monthly fee is becoming more and more a reality.

LHReturnables is similar to the on-line and in-store video rental companies, however, we are very different in the way we payout to the artist. Our company is about helping the independent artist to make a living with their music, while also making it worthwhile to be able to still create your physical cd, vinyl etc. I truly feel that LHReturnables, Inc. is a win-win situation for both artists and fans.

I am actively looking to get a minimum of 3000 Independent Artist's cds, vinyl or cassettes from All Genres so that we can open our first Brick & Mortar store in Los Angeles, California. I will even accept demos, singles, etc. Whatever you feel you would like to send. Please visit my article on Returnables at a wonderful underground music magazine titled Space Junkies located at www.spacejunkies.net.

I look forward to any comments or suggestions.

Renting Music Benefits You and Your Fans

Renting your music whether on cd, cassette or vinyl is of benefit to both you, the artist, and your fans. Your fans will only have to pay a monthly fee of $20.00 per month, and they will be able to get all the music they want. You will have the benefit of making money each time your cd is rented or sold. If you are participating in the Membership Compensation program, you will be paid whether or not your cd rents and/or sells, as long as you are in the program.

Your fans can feel good knowing that you are going to benefit financially from their rental and/or purchase, and the same time knowing that they are getting more for their hard earned money. This is a win-win situation for you and your fans.

Sincerely,

Janou Lightning

Indie Music Artists - Let Your Music Work For You

I started LHReturnables out because of the frustration I felt watching so many indie-pendent artists not getting looked at because of their age, "not the music someone was looking for", and any other number of excuses. I wanted to do something to help, above and beyond what was already out in the industry.

Even with all the advances in the availability of artists to get their music out to the public, it still seems to me that not enough are able to make a living with their music. My passion is to help as many indie-pendent music artists as possible, and the only true way that I can see doing this is by starting the movement of RENTING Music CDs. This is the only way that I have been able to see so far in the years that I have been in the industry to allow an artist to make money over and over again off the same cd over a period of what could be years.

I am in the process of updating our website to accomodate many artists to be a part of the LHReturnables program. I do believe that Renting Music is going to be a major alternative form of distribution in the near future. One of the great benefits is that many artists will make money over and over again just for being in the LHReturnables program.

I welcome your comments. Please check out the LHReturnables interview in a wonderful underground on-line music magazine - Space Junkies - located at www.spacejunkies.net

The Alternative Future of Music Distribution

I started working in the Indie-pendent Music Industry in 1999 by helping artists replicate their cds and create their final packages. I had so much enjoyment and sense of accomplishment watching their projects come to fruition. The more that I helped indie-pendent artists complete their projects the more I wanted to help them become successful in their final endeavors with their music.

Time and time again, I saw artists' heartbroken by the promises made from Distribution companies. I can only imagine that most of the cds of the artists that I worked with ended up in their closet as a dead end or just to be given out to friends or relatives, or worse end up in a thrift store. All their hard work and dreams getting stepped on. This frustrated me so much that I decided that I had to make it my mission to figure out a way that these artists would be able to get their music out to the public, to their customers to their fans without having to worry about the the dreaded "Returns" that always seem to accompany the normal distribution channels. (I'm sure their are some good indie-pendent distributors out there), but I still dislike the policy of Returns back to the artist for unsold merchandise.

In the 2000, I set out to figure out my own way to help indie-pendent artists. By 2004 I had come up with LHReturnables, Inc. Returnables is an on-line and in-brick and mortar store Music Distribution Company that RENTS and Sells Your CDS. The beauty about this concept is that an artist can make money over and over again off the same cd. Even if the cd is sold, the customer or fan can still bring the cd back in good condition, and it goes back out for Rent or Sale. All the while the artist is making money. In this program the artist makes money for the Lifetime of the CD. With our company RETURNS are exactly what we want so that we can keep renting and selling and helping each indie-pendent artist make money and maybe a living off their music. Our motto is "Where Your Return Is Always Welcome"!

I understand that many artists may feel uncomfortable about "bootlegging", but if this is truly the case their are measures we can take to handle this. I don't feel that this will be an overwhelming problem though.

As this is a new company and concept, I'm trying to reach as many indie-pendent artists as I can to participate in this alternative form of Music Distribution. I do think you will see that it has many benefits.
